The project Dignipédia Global: Systematizing, Deepening and Defending Human Rights in a Context of Globalization was recently awarded an Honorable Mention as part of the 5th Óscar Arnulfo Romero Ibero-American Prize for Human Rights Education.
This annual award is promoted by the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI) and aims to “recognize the work of organizations that have acted in an exemplary manner in the defence and promotion of human rights through education.”
The Dignipédia Global project (EEA Grants – Active Citizens Fund | Programa Cidadãos Ativ@s – Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian/Fundação Bissaya Barreto) aims to train students, schools and universities, as well as education and socio-cultural action agents to foster a culture of human rights, bringing together various national and international school, academic and civil society institutions.
The results of this project are:
1) two human rights dictionaries (a global dictionary, aimed at specialists, but also at the general public; an educational dictionary, made by children and young people – together with their teachers – and for children and young people of school age);
2) a free digital platform where the two dictionaries are available;
3) a set of activities designed to encourage schools, civil society and academia to take part in actions to train and raise awareness of human rights, according to the different stages and levels of learning of the target audiences.
For the national phase of the Óscar Arnulfo Romero Ibero-American Prize for Human Rights Education, the jury for the 2024 edition awarded 1st place to the MEERU Abrir Camino project, 2nd place to the EPRIS E-learning in Prison Context project, and 3rd place to the 3 C’s Agents of Transformation project. The two honorable mentions were awarded to DIGNIPÉDIA GLOBAL and the ALTO CINEMA project.
We congratulate all the winners and invite you to visit the DIGNIPÉDIA GLOBAL project platform and networks (Facebook | Instagram | Linkedin | Youtube), so that we can increasingly make a global culture for human rights possible.
